How to add Pinterest to you Facebook Page.
This is most likely going to be my shortest blog ever.
But it is Friday and everybody loves Pinterest and Facebook so why not marry them up so all your Facebook users can view you Pinterest account. You will notice that if you have added LinkedIn, Twitter and your blog for example then those links show up as part of your profile.
If you want to add Pinterest as a tab on your Facebook Page this is how you do it.
Step One: Install the Static iFrame Tab
1. Go to https://apps.facebook.com/iframehost/.
2. Click Install Page Tab
3. Choose the page you want to add the iframe app too.
4. Click Add Static iFrame Tab
Step Two: Edit the Static iFrame
1. Click Welcome
2. Click Authorize the Tab application
3. Click Allow
4. Select URL and enter the mobile URL for your Pinterest account (“http://m.pinterest.com/xxxx”). I used http://m.pinterest.com/jorgenpoulsen.
Make sure you add ‘m.‘ in front of ‘pinterest’ and after ‘//’ and remove ‘www‘ or it won’t work.
Note: If you only want to link to a specific board, locate the board on your Pinterest account and grab the link for it.
5. You can also adjust the height to for example 1,000 pixels instead of the preset 800 pixels to avoid having the scroll bar on the right. It all depends on how many boards you have.
6. Change the name in the Tab Name field.
7. Go to developers.facebook.com/apps and click Create New App at the top right. This and the rest of the steps are not necessary if you don’t want the Pinterest button.
8. Type a name in the App Name box. I named mine Pinterest button.
9. Save this Pinterest button to your desktop.
10. Click Edit icon.
11. Scroll down and click on the Page Tab section.
You have to fill in 3 boxes in this section:
- Page Tab Name
- Page Tab URL
- Secure Page Tab URL
a. Type the name you gave your tab in the Page Tab Name.
b. Look for your App ID number at the top of the page.
c. Type http://XXXXXX.iframehost.com/tab and change XXXXXX with the numbers you next to the App ID section at the top of the page. See mine below but don’t use mine. You must use your own numbers.
d. Type the name URL in the Secure Page Tab URL and add s after http
12. Click on the Apps on Facebook section.
You have to fill in 2 boxes in this section:
- Canvas URL
- Secure Canvas URL
Type the same URLs you used above but make sure you remove the word tab from the end and replace it with a / for each of the URLs.
13. Copy and paste this URL into your browser’s address bar making sure to change yourappid with your App numbers you used above.
http://www.facebook.com/add.php?api_key=YOURAPPID&pages
14. Select the page you want to add the Pinterest button to and click Add Pinterest Button.
Voila – you’re all set to go. Enjoy

how do I get the icon to appear on my business page time line” La Goe di Toscanna Handbags
Not sure I understand your question
Posting in case others do what I did. I felt like an idiot–after step 1 I’m wondering, click on “settings” where, exactly? Settings are all over the place in FB–account settings, privacy settings, app settings….
First I look in my App Settings under Account Settings, assuming that’s where, and I don’t see the app.
Then I try using Edit Page, Apps, Edit Settings under this app. That doesn’t do it–I can change the label on the tab to display Pinterest but nowhere can I enter the URL.
I finally figure out that you click on the Pinterest tab itself from your page, As the Admin you see a Settings link. Aha!
I also had to load the URL in two spots so that both fans and non-fans could see it–missed that step the first time and only non-fans could see it.
It may have been two steps for you–I managed to make it more
.
Hi Barb,
once you have installed the app then go to your tabs on the left and there is one called ‘Welcome’. Click on it to finished the installation.
Once that is done then click on ‘settings’ in the top right corner and take it from there.
If it doesn’t work for you then connect with me on skype and we’ll do it together.
My skype id is jorgen-poulsen.

I admin several pages, but only want my personal Pinterest on one, not the business pages I work for. It wants permissions for all the pages, will this ap change anything on the other pages, or just the one I specifically load it to?
Hi Beth,
when you install the app itself you are asked to chose the page. I also admin several pages but have only installed it on my own Facebook Page. It should not change anything on the other Pages.
I hope that helps.
Sorry for the late response.
Jorgen
Thank you for this helpful blog but I couldn’t install the Pinterest because i ALREADY have the iframehost tabs installed on my page
is there anyway around that or another option of how to add Pinterest to my page? PLEASE!
My page is http://www.facebook.com/dressygirlkouture
Hi Kami,
I only know of this option. Is it possible to use another free apps and re-install the pages which is currently using iFrame app?
Jorgen
How complicated is it to get the red Pinterest icon instead of the blue arrow?
Hi Beth,
not that complicated. In fact, I have just done it. You can see it here http://www.facebook.com/thecatalystpartnership. I’m going to add the instructions later today.
Jorgen
where? I’d like to put the Pinterest logo up too, I can’t find any info. on our link. Did you post instructions?
Hi Mia,
it’s step 7 to 14 in the instructions
Jorgen
How long does it take to show up? because I don’t see anything different.
Hi Judi,
if you have done all the steps then it should show up as soon as you clich on the Pinterest tab you have created.
Jorgen
Great post, and I love your Pinterest page.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Kim,
you’re most welcome.

Is this only for FB pages that you admin, or can I add it to my personal FB profile? I tried and gave up. :-/
Hi Kathleen, I am not aware of any way to add tabs to personal profiles. Sorry.
Jorgen
No problem. The nonprofit that I admin will probably be adding Pinterest soon, so I’ll bookmark the post. Thanks!
Ok great Kathleen.
Thank you very much. This was very helpful and very easy to follow. I first saw this app on Mari Smith’s Facebook page, and my friend Cendrine Marrouat pointed me to your tutorial. Thanks again!!!
Hi April,
glad you liked it.
Jorgen
Hi, I followed all the steps (great tutorial by the way) and I am not sure what happened at the end but I got redirected to woodbox and even though all has been set up with iframe, it shows up as a woodbox app. I can only see the partial pinterest page and not a pinterest timeline. is it normal? http://www.facebook.com/XShotPix#!/XShotPix?sk=app_300224960041004 Thanks!
Hi Elodie,
it’s ok but you forgot to replace ‘www’ with ‘m.’ in the URL.
Good luck.
Jorgen
Thanks for the tip, works like a charm now! Thanks
Hi Elodie,
it helps reading the instructions
.
Jorgen
Same here, I followed all the directions but it isn’t showing up- i have the tab and the P logo but it’s not reading my page…
Is it still not working?
AWESOME!! Works wonderfully! Thank you so much and easy to do!
Hi Helena,
you’re most welcome
Jorgen
Jorgen,
I have done all the steps and nothing shows up? I checked my settings and I have the i frame app there with the name Pinterest taht I named it. My url is not connected to the app?
Hi – did you add your Pinterest URL and replaced ‘www’ with ‘m’?
Jorgen
How do I change the URL I entered if I entered the wrong one?
Hi Daphne,
this is now a convoluted way of doing it. Delete what you have done and then go to http://www.woobox.com and install the Pinterest tab. That’s what I am using now.
Jorgen
I did it! Thank you for the link! Here it is https://www.facebook.com/designeddecor?sk=app_220968651333626
Thank you again!
Hi,
you’re almost there. You need to make one change to avoid visitors having to scroll horizontally. In the url you have to replace ‘www’ with ‘m’ as I mentioned before.

Oh please tell me what I am doing wrong! This was a terrific tutorial & I managed to get my Pinterest page linked but I don’t seem able to change the image. I’ve gone over & over it, but I must be missing something. I haven’t switched over to the new timeline yet, but I don’t think that’s the reason. If you can help me I would so appreciate it! Here’s the page: https://www.facebook.com/TheTwinCoach?sk=app_208195102528120
Thank you so much!
Gina
Hi Gina,
it worked fine for me when I clicked on the link.
Jorgen
The link works fine, but what I can’t manage to do is get the Pinterest logo to appear instead of the blue arrow. Perhaps I need to remove the app & do it all over again?
Thanks for your quick reply!
-Gina
Hi Gina,
right now there’s a bug when you change the image. Have you switched to Timeline for Pages?
Jorgen
No, I haven’t switched yet. I’m trying to get everything right before I do. That bug is so frustrating! Do you know if it goes away when I switch over? Thank you so much for all your time. I really appreciate it!
-Gina
Hi Gina,
yes I do know. The answer is unfortunately that it is still there under time lime but it will of course be fixed sooner or later.
Jorgen
Thanks for everything Jorgen. You’ve been more than helpful. I sent a bunch of people to your blog as well. Take care!
-Gina
Please don’t mention it.
Right now one of my clients has a weird picture as their logo and they keep complaining so I understand your frustration.
Jorgen
Thanks!!
Hi Sophie,
you’re welcome.

Hello Jorgen,
We are trying to put Pinterest on our company Facebook page but we get scroll bars. We want to emulate what Blue Nile did. They have their bridal board featured but everything stacked neatly 3 wide all the way down. How can we do this as well?
Hi Christopher,
you most likely missed step 4 in the tutorial
——————————————-
My guess is that you have not replaced ‘www’ with ‘m’.
That should take care of the horisontal scroll.
———————————————–
As far as the vertical scroll see step 5
—————————————-
5. You can also adjust the height to for example 1,000 pixels instead of the preset 800 pixels to avoid having the scroll bar on the right. It all depends on how many boards you have.
————————————
Let me know if that fixed your problem.
Jorgen
So I followed the steps as you stated twice and nothing shows up!
Here is the Pinterest url I entered for the specific board I wanted to share http://m.pinterest.com/socialmmmdiva/social-media-stuff/
and here is the other link
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Social-Mobile-Media-Marketing-Diva-aka-SocialMMMDiva/224791287550438?sk=app_144746785652315
Crazy thing the Pinterest logo shows up but not the page…..where did i go wrong?
Hi Karen,
the URL is fine. Not sure why it’s not working to be honest.
Perhaps you should delete the app and trying again from scratch.
Sorry I can’t be more helpful.
Jorgen
Ok thanks for responding…it’s weird! I’ve contacted the developer of the app for assistance. As I have attempted to add the app to several of the pages I administer and was not able to install them on any of the pages.
Perhaps it is no longer possible with the new timeline but I doubt it as it is working nicely on my page http://www.facebook.com/thecatalystpartnership.
Jorgen
No I believe it still works about 6 of my “social media guru” friends either wrote their own blog post with the same info as yours or linked to this post today. I hope the developer can assist As I’ve deleted about 6 times and tried to re-install with no luck.
It works fine now that I removed the direct to a specific board. That function no longer works unless you use the redirect feature. So now people will need to decide if it is worth losing interest of your FB user to direct them away from FB or just to show all of your boards.
Thanks for your help and your post.
Blessings to you.
Hmmm… gotta have to try. Anyway, all my boards are strictly social media so it’s not a problem for me.
I’m glad you got it fixed and left this comment so other can benefit from your knowledge.
Right …I have a few personal boards and a few on different types of marketing strategies…I may consider building a different board for my personal needs since you can’t direct to a specific board anymore.
Is there any way to add a PINTEREST widget/button to my wordpress blog page?
Thanks for the tutorial. I successfully installed the tab using our Pinterest mobile URL and set it to 1,000 pixels. The issue I’m having is that when I click on the tab it shows the app in a smaller frame briefly, for a couple of seconds, then redirects completely to the mobile URL (leaving Facebook). Therefore I am unable to click the Settings button within the tab to make changes to the app config. because it too quickly redirects to the mobile URL. Any thoughts on this?
Hi Mary,
have you managed to fix it?
Jorgen
Hi, I followed all steps but got stuck at step 13. Should I add the name of the pages or should I just add app id ?
http://www.facebook.com/add.php?api_key=YOURAPPID&pages
Thanks
Rekha
Sorry Rekha I’m not sure what you mean
Hi there i was trying to add pintrest to my facebook by folloing your instructions, but i messed up. how can i remove it now and fix it? Please help
Hi,

Jorgen
Mine is completely screwed up. Ugh! Not sure what I did I have a weird looking welcome picture that when I click on it goes to a strange layout of my Pinterest account. Can you help?

Hi Rachel,
this is now a convoluted way of doing it. Delete what you have done and then go to http://www.woobox.com and install the Pinterest tab. That’s what I am using now.
Jorgen
I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. Have done this ten times and can’t get it to work. Here is our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/amber.wineryfriends
I’m sorry but you don’t have a Facebook Page. You have a Personal Profile which apparently you are using for commercial purpose which is in breach of Facebook’s ToS paragraph 4 section 4 so you risk it being shut down. There are many other challenges too. Email me at jorgen.poulsen@catalystpartnership.com.
Ps. this solution does not work for Personal Profiles.
